11+ Mock Tests for the Buckinghamshire exam
The 11+ Mock Tests are a course of four 11+ test papers in the style of the Buckinghamshire 11+ exam. They are perfect for practising for the 11+ test in exam conditions, covering all of the question types that GL Assessment could include.
Each test has been personally written by Zoë Barrows - who has 21 years’ experience of providing 11+ tuition to hundreds of children in Beaconsfield and South Buckinghamshire.
A course of all four Mock Tests is recommended to cover all possible question-types. However, each of the tests is a separate entity, so your child can sit as many or as few as you decide.
All tests will be administered by Zoë Barrows.

On The Day
The Mock Tests will take the form of a 2 ½ hour session in St Thomas’ Church Hall, Mayflower Way, Holtspur, HP9 1UF, where the children sit two timed papers in the same format as the Buckinghamshire 11+ exam, with an audio administrator and multiple-choice answer sheets.
These tests help your child to gain confidence in their abilities and to overcome their nerves.
There are no online tests as this is not appropriate practice for the Buckinghamshire 11+ exam.
Timings will be:
- Paper A - Verbal Reasoning and Technical English paper - one hour including example questions – 50% of the overall mark
- 20 minute break – children to go to the toilet and bring their own drink and snack
- Paper B - Non-Verbal Reasoning, Spatial Reasoning and Maths paper - one hour including example questions – NVR/SR 25% and Maths 25% of the overall mark
Each test will have different aspects of the 11+ content (for example the 25 VR question types will be spread across the four papers) so it is strongly recommended to sit all four tests (eight separate papers).
Feedback
After each test session, Tutor for Success will provide feedback in the form of all questions that your child has answered incorrectly, along with their answer and the correct answer.
Instructions on how to complete the more difficult questions will also be provided.
Tutor for Success will provide the anonymised overall scores of all of the children who sit the test, both present and in past years, along with all of the scores in each separate section of the test.
From this, you will be able to identify your own child’s strengths and areas for development relative to the other children in the cohort.
Copies of the completed Mock Test Papers will not be released, as this ensures that all papers are guaranteed to be previously unseen by students, and protects Tutor for Success’ IP.

- The test conditions accurately reflect the school environment on 11+ Test Day.
- Every student will be allocated their own personal seating place for each Mock Test.
- A short explanation from Zoë Barrows will put the students at ease and ensure that they know what the format of the session is and what to expect.

- There will be a short break of around 20 minutes where students may go to the toilet and have a drink or snack that they have brought with them to the session.

- This is done through individual focussed discussions with students who have sat the test.
- Discussions include the question types tested, the length of time given in each section, the number of questions asked for each section and the order of the sections on the test papers.
- The Mock Tests are then updated and edited each year in line with this feedback.
